Frequently Asked Questions
What is a DVR?
A DVR, also known as a Digital Video Recorder, allows you to record your favorite shows and view them later. It also allows you to pause live TV when you need to get up and make yourself a snack, or run to get the telephone. You can even rewind so you can re-watch that game winning play or funny sitcom moment over and over again.
Do you need a receiver for each TV?
No. Dish Network's dual-tuner allows you to have two TV's linked to one receiver. This exclusive receiver technology cuts your equipment costs in half, while allowing you to watch separate programming on two different TV's.
Does service go out in bad weather?
Satellite technology has improved greatly over the past few years. An average rainstorm or windy day most likely won't cause your service to go out. However, severe storms may impact the signal strength of your satellite service.
Is there a contract?
To get the promotional prices and free equipment, you will be asked to make a 24-month commitment. Month-to-month plans are available, but they don't include the promotions or free equipment.
How soon can someone come out to install?
On average your install will be between 3 and 5 business days from the day you sign up. In many cases you will be installed sooner than five days.
Can I use the equipment I already have?
Yes, but if the installer has to reconfigure your old equipment, an extra fee may be assessed. However, right now, Dish Network is offering free satellite equipment and installation. That means there is no reason to use older, potentially out-dated equipment.
What is the size of the dish?
The dish is typically about 24 inches in diameter. In some instances, a larger size may be needed to get the signal strength required for a clear picture.
Does Dish Network offer HD channels?
Yes. Dish offers over 120 HD channels, making them the industry leader in high-definition programming.
Does Dish Network offer internet service?
Dish Network is not an internet provider, however you can bundle your Dish services with some of the major providers in the nation such as CenturyLink and HughesNet Satellite Internet.
Does the dish have to be installed on my house?
No. However, this is not considered part of the free standard installation and the installer may have to charge you an extra fee.
